Shih Chien University Guidelines for Rewarding Students Participating in Foreign Language Proficiency Tests

To enhance the foreign language abilities of the University's students, encourage students to pass foreign language proficiency tests, and to strengthen their international mobility and competitive edge in employment, the "Shih Chien University Guidelines for Rewarding Students Participating in Foreign Language Proficiency Tests" (hereinafter referred to as "these Guidelines") are hereby established.
All enrolled students of the University (excluding students from departments where a foreign language is their major) who participate in a foreign language proficiency test during their period of study may apply for a reward, provided that the tested language is not their native language and their score meets the following standards. However, rewards for proficiency tests in the same language are limited to one time only. Furthermore, if the same test score has already been used to receive a grant or subsidy from the University for improving English or foreign language skills, this reward cannot be claimed.
English Proficiency Test Standard
Students who, during their period of study, participate in on-campus English proficiency tests organized by the Language Center or external English proficiency tests on their own, and whose scores meet the standards set forth in the "Shih Chien University English and Foreign Language Proficiency Graduation Benchmark Regulations."
Japanese Proficiency Test Standard
Students not in the Department of Applied Japanese who, on their own, participate in external Japanese tests and achieve a score of N3 or higher on the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), a score of 500 or higher (Level D) on the Test of Practical Japanese (J.TEST), or a score of J3 or higher on the Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT).
Other Foreign Language Test Standards
For other foreign language tests, such as French, Spanish, German, Italian, etc., achieving a standard of CEFR B1 or higher.
Enrolled students who meet the reward standards set in the preceding points should apply to the Language Center during the application period announced by the Language Center, by submitting the original copy of their test score certificate. Late submissions or applications with incomplete documents will not be accepted.
The number of awards and the monetary amount under these guidelines are determined by the University's annual budget for such rewards for the current year.
These guidelines are implemented after being reviewed and passed by the College of Liberal Arts Affairs Meeting and the Administrative Council Meeting, and subsequently approved by the President for promulgation. The same procedure applies to amendme
